Intercom
A support platform combining chat, email, a help center, and the Fin AI agent that resolves tickets on its own.
What it actually does
Intercom bundles a chat widget, a shared inbox, outbound messaging, and a knowledge base into one product. Its headline feature is Fin, an AI agent that reads your help content and answers customer questions without a human.
Pricing is per seat, but the money usually moves with Fin, which is billed per resolved conversation rather than per message. That makes cost track ticket volume: light months are cheap, busy months add up.
There is no free tier, only a 14-day trial. Solo founders most often justify it through the Early Stage program, which discounts seats heavily and includes Fin AI credits, or when volume is high enough that automated deflection beats answering every ticket by hand.
