Postiz

An open-source social scheduler you can self-host for free or pay for as a hosted cloud service.

$29/mo cloud (Standard, 5 channels, ~400 posts/mo); self-hosted open source is free

What it actually does

Postiz is an AGPL open-source scheduler covering 20+ platforms. You can run it yourself with Docker on a cheap VPS at no software cost, or subscribe to the hosted cloud tiers to skip the setup.

Every paid tier includes an API, webhooks, analytics and an AI copilot; post volume is capped on the entry Standard tier (about 400 posts/month) and only becomes unlimited from the Team tier up. Cloud tiers scale by channel count from 5 up to 100 channels.

The tradeoff for self-hosting is operational: you must register and maintain your own OAuth app credentials for every social platform, which is a meaningful one-time setup effort.

Worth it for
  • Open source (AGPL): self-host for $0 software cost on a cheap VPS if you know Docker
  • API, webhooks and analytics on every paid tier (posts capped at ~400/mo on Standard, unlimited from Team up)
  • AI copilot, AI media generation and 20+ supported platforms
Watch out for
  • Cloud Standard at $29/mo covers only 5 channels and caps posts at ~400/mo, and AI image-generation allowances are limited on that tier
  • Self-hosting means registering and maintaining OAuth credentials for every platform yourself
  • Younger project than incumbents, so team-collaboration depth is thinner than Mixpost or Buffer

Is it the right tool for you

Pick it if
  • You are technical and will self-host for a full scheduler at VPS cost
  • You want an API and webhooks on paid tiers
  • You post across many niche platforms (20+ supported)
Skip it if
  • You do not want to maintain OAuth apps or a server → use Buffer or Post Bridge
  • You only need 5 channels and dislike the Standard post cap → use Buffer per-channel
